Industrialization Process Engineer

Your mission
We are seeking skilled Specialized Industrialization and Process Engineers to join our industrialization team. The candidate must have experience in production processes and production equipment including the deployment, commissioning, ramp up and validation of new lines in new or existing facilities.  

The role main responsibility will be the scale up of our production processes, leveraging high capacity automated serial production line, often moving from batch to continuous processes, as well as new product introduction (NPI) in existing and new production lines.  

This role will be key in supporting the design, manufacturing and deployment of the relevant production equipment and driving the validation and ramp up phase.  

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies for industrialization projects.  

R&D will be a key interface both during the development and the industrialization of the product and production processes.  

This role requires a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, experience with industrial equipment, experience with scaling-up of production processes and the ability to analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
Your tasks
As a Specialised Industrial/Process Engineer you will: 
  • Scale up and industrialize our proprietary products and manufacturing processes. 
  • Design and develop advanced production processes and methodologies, to enhance productivity, maintain high quality, and reduce waste. 
  • Participate in process equipment and tools selection, engineering, manufacturing and FAT  
  • Support the installation, commissioning, SAT of new production equipment in existing and new facilities and equipment relocation and validation 
  • Drive the validation and ramp-up phase of new production equipment in existing and new facilities and/or in case of new product introduction. 
  • Collaborate actively with equipment engineers and equipment suppliers to optimize existing processes, resolve technical challenges, and identify opportunities for further improvements. This include troubleshooting during commissioning/validation/ramp-up but may also include troubleshooting during steady operation 
  • Monitor and analyze production parameters to identify their correlation with product quality, deviations and required corrective actions to meet the company's key performance indicator (KPI) targets. 
  • Work closely with the R&D team providing input and guidance to enable the new product and process industrialization in terms of scalability, yield, cost efficiency and potential for serial production.  
  • Train manufacturing personnel (e.g. operators and technicians) on new processes, equipment, and operating procedures to ensure smooth transitions and consistent performance. 
  • Collect and transfer lessons learn, information, and data from the different lines and facilities  
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives using LEAN principles to improve manufacturing effectiveness and scalability. 
  • Assist in the planning and management of industrialization budgets, resource allocation, and project timelines 

Below are some examples of the main specific knowledge and experiences of relevance for our specific processes: grinding/dispersing/milling/mixing processes:

  • tape casting, deposition and other technologies used to produce thin, precise ceramic layers  
  • paste screen printing, roll-to-roll printing, coating, drying, etc. 
  • sintering and other high thermal treatments/processes 
  • laser marking, cutting, etc. 
  • electrochemical processes, key components, and structures. 
  • thermal and chemical process control, optimization, and testing. 
  • precise assembly, sealing, and fastening techniques, utilizing both manual and automated methods and/or advanced assembly aids, fixtures, and specialized handling tools for precision and efficiency in processes. 

Depending on the specific process the role may reports to : 
  • the Specialized Senior Industrialization Engineer and will be based preferably based in Tallinn (Estonia) with the possibility of being based in Vantaa (Finland) 
  • the Solid Oxide Stack and Module Manufacturing and Testing Manager and be preferably based in Vantaa (Finland) with the possibility of being based in Tallinn (Estonia)
Your profile
Your main experience and education  
  • Working experience as an Engineer/Senior Specialist in industrialization/production/process engineering, preferably in electronics/chemical/ceramic industries (at least 3-5 years). 
  • Specific knowledge of SOFC/SOEC fundamentals is a plus 
  • Experience in launching new products. 
  • Expertise in equipment validation, commissioning, and ramp-up activities. 
  • Expertise in working collaboratively with equipment suppliers to optimize systems and implement innovative solutions. 
  • Knowledge of LEAN principles and continuous improvement methodologies. 
  • Have worked cross-functionally with RND and product development 
  • You have exposure to and enjoy working in multicultural, international environments 
  • You hold a degree in Industrial Engineering or a relevant field.

  • Strongly goal-oriented, curious and eager to learn.  
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to train personnel effectively. 
  • English written and oral skills (knowledge of Estonian, Russian, Finnish and other languages is a plus)
