Solid Oxide Stack Expert

Your mission
We are currently looking for a true team player to join our Stack Development team. The candidate must have strong research background in electrochemistry and thermodynamics, or fuel cells and electrolysis and must be experienced in running testing campaigns and analyzing the results, and participate in customer and publicly funded projects.

The main responsibilities include designing and developing next-generation stack products, ensuring the development of current product generations, and coordinating internal and external testing activities to further deepen our understanding of our products.

You will act as a key player, ensuring information flow and support across different departments and functions and be the go-to person for stack expertise.

This role requires strong analytical and problem solving skills, as well as the ability to see the full picture concerning the various streams of activities within and outside Stack Development, as well as within and outside the organization.
Your tasks

 

  • Develop the current and future solid oxide stack platforms, from design and functionality point of view, continuously striving to improving their performances, ensuring alignment with the company strategic goals
  • Coordinate both internal and external solid oxide stack testing activities and analyzing stack test data
  • Conduct post-test stack analysis, including stack disassembly, sample analysis and reporting
  • Plan, execute and analyze electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) campaigns and data
  • Closely collaborate to develop and validate internal modelling tools to closely describe the stack behavior
  • Provide expert feedback on customer projects, supporting internal functions in ensuring our customers’ success
  • Build and maintaining a scientific network including collaboration with leading research institutes and universities
  • Lead publicly funded research projects such as Business Finland or EU projects, acting as reference person for technical development activities and ensuring that project goals are met in a timely manner
  • Commit to continuous scientific market analysis including understanding competitor technology and development focus, publications, conferences etc. in the solid oxide space 
  • Monitor, assess and actively contribute to protecting and expanding Elcogen IP through active engagement in patent surveillance and ideation
  • Ensure and actively foster cross-functional collaboration with key stakeholders in product development processes and day-to-day activities
Your profile
  • Ph.D. in physics, electrochemistry or similar
  • Experienced in electrochemical characterization and data interpreting methods
  • Good knowledge of EIS data analysis (e.g. DRT, equivalent circuit modelling, KK relations)
  • Ideally experienced in electrolysis or fuel cell modelling 
  • Fluent in spoken and written English. Other languages seen as beneficial
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Experience with solid oxide electrolysis seen as a strong bonus
Established network in the fuel cell and electrolysis arena is seen as a bonus
